My husband loves anything spicy.

Hot sauce. Habaneros. Cajun Seasoning. Not necessarily in that order. 😉

In fact, there’s a pizza place in town that lets you customize your pizza crust. Pat get’s his pizza with a Cajun seasoning blend sprinkled over the crust, while the girls and I play it safe and get a butter and Parmesan crust. Although I sneak a piece of his every single time because I love the Cajun spice!

Since Pat loves this spice blend, I always have it on hand.  My recipe for homemade Cajun seasoning blend calls for some basic herbs and spices that most of you have in your pantry.

cayenne pepper

ground thyme

dried oregano

onion powder

garlic powder

black pepper

It’s as simple as measuring the spices into a container and giving them a stir. It’s a good idea to store it in an air-tight container. I reuse spice jars, or I have metal spice tin and I even sometimes use those small glass canning jars.

Try using this homemade Cajun seasoning blend in this Cajun Chicken Pasta or these Roasted Cajun Potatoes! Both recipes are super duper easy and are fabulous. Thanks to a little help from this stellar homemade Cajun seasoning recipe.
