Maybe something other than traditional burgers and dogs?

Well, I found chicken brats at Whole Foods and while I paid a pretty penny for them, they were worth every cent. So extremely flavorful and juicy… I’m now a big fan and will drive the 50 minutes to the nearest Whole Foods to buy them.

stuff

We are a brat-loving family. Normally my husband and I prefer ours with caramelized onions and peppers with homemade pickled jalapenos and mustard. But this time around I wanted to do something different. So I made a jar of pickled red onions and some barbecue sauce and dressed these chicken brats up.

grilling

Barbecue the chicken brats on a preheated grill set at medium until fully cooked. Mine took about 12-15 minutes. I wanted to make sure they were cooked all the way through.

slather

The last 5 minutes or so I started brushing the chicken brats with barbecue sauce, turning them to get them sticky and caramelized.

And saucy.

Remove the brats and let them cool a smidge while you get the toppings and such together.

Nestle the saucy brats in a warm and soft bun, then top with pickled red onion and a zigzag of spicy brown mustard. So unbelievable and do I dare say I like chicken brats better?? {I do!}
