What’s golden and packed with flavor? This turmeric vegetable seasoning blend! This is great used for seasoning vegetables before roasting.

Turmeric Vegetable Seasoning Blend

I mainly use this seasoning with vegetables before roasting. Carrots and sweet potatoes are my go-to veggie of choice, maybe because this seasoning blend works with their already orangey and golden flesh? But cauliflower, broccoli, potatoes or any vegetable would totally work. It’s a simple seasoning that will really amp up your vegetables with the a little nutritional boost – thank you, turmeric.

What Are The Best Spices For Making Your Own Seasonings and Spice Blends?

There’s no right or wrong brand. I will first say, buy what you can afford. However, not all spices are created equal as you tend to get what you pay for. Currently I use Morton & Bassett (not sponsored) because I find their spices to be top notch in texture, color and flavor. I love and respect what their company stands for not only with charitable work but also quality control. With that said some other wonderful brands I’ve used over the years are Simple Organic, Frontier Co-op and Penzys.

measure and add spices to a bowl or jar

In a clean jar, measure and add 1 tablespoon of both turmeric and paprika. Use any paprika you like here; regular, hot or smoked. You’ll also need 2-1/2 teaspoons of dried oregano that you’ve crushed or ground in the palm of your hand with your fingers and 1-1/2 teaspoons garlic powder. Ignore the salt in the photo, I was using this spice blend for a recipe and somehow it snuck in there -oops. FYI there’s no salt in the spice blend.

Why Crush Oregano?

Crushing the oregano just breaks it up into smaller pieces and some think it releases more flavor this way.

stir until combined

Depending on the amount of vegetables you’re roasting or grilling, will depend on how much of the turmeric vegetable seasoning blend you’ll need. I use a generous tablespoon for 2 medium-ish large-ish diced sweet potatoes and for 10 small carrots. Just eyeball it and you’ll be golden (see what I did there?😉).
