I’ve got you! Instead of Guinness, green beer or just plain old Irish whiskey on the rocks, try this refreshing and crisp Irish Mule! Simply fill two copper mugs to the top with ice, then pour Irish whiskey, freshly squeezed lime juice and Irish golden ginger ale over top and garnished with fresh mint and a dried (or fresh) lime slice.

Ingredients for Irish Mule

To Make A Irish Mule You Will Need:

  • ice
  • irish whiskey – Use your favorite.
  • lime juice – Freshly squeezed is best.
  • irish ginger ale – Or substitute with ginger beer, Vernors or Canada Dry.
  • mint (fresh) – For garnish (optional).
  • dried (or fresh) lime slices – For garnish (optional). Linked below in the printable recipe.

fill copper mug with ice

Fill 2 copper mugs with ice.

add 2 ounces of Irish whiskey

Pour 2 ounces of Irish whiskey into each mug.

1 ounce of fresh lime juice

Then pour in 1 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice into each mug as well.

top off with Irish ginger ale

Lastly, top each mug with Irish ginger ale.

  • 2 ounces fresh lime juice
  • 24 ounces Irish Golden Ginger Ale
  • fresh mint sprigs
  • dried or fresh lime slices

Instructions 

  • Fill 2 copper mugs with ice. Pour 2 ounces of Irish whiskey and 1 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice into each mug as well. Lastly, top each mug with Irish ginger ale. Serve as is or garnish with a sprig of fresh mint and dried or fresh lime wedges.
