If you’ve been here awhile, you already know this. I have found a way to make a lot of my favorite store-bought salad dressing at home and usually make them a little healthier. This Thousand Island Dressing is not only easy, but also delicious and a fraction of the calories. Typically, for 2 tablespoons of this dressing, it’s around 140 calories and usually contains necessary ingredients and preservatives. This recipe consists of 6 ingredients, takes less than minutes to make and is only 68 calories for 3 tablespoons. 😳 Needless to say, this is my go-to thousand island dressing!

Ingredients for Homemade Thousand Island Dressing

To Make This Homemade Thousand Island Dressing You Will Need:

  • mayonnaiseI absolutely LOVE Chosen Foods mayo made with avocado oil. (not sponsored)
  • full-fat greek yogurtI like to use Oikos plain full-fat yogurt (with 25 grams protein). (not sponsored)
  • ketchupCan use homemade, store-bought or sugar-free ketchup.
  • onionUse yellow or white onion.
  • dill pickles & juiceI prefer Claussen pickles. (not sponsored)
  • sugarLends a touch of sweetness.

In a medium bowl, measure and add 1/4 cup of both mayonnaise and plain full-fat greek yogurt.

add in ketchup

Pour in  1/2 cup of ketchup.

add in pickles, onion and sugar

And add in 1/3 cup of both finely diced dill pickles and yellow or white onion and 1 teaspoon sugar.

stir to combine

Stir well to combine.

pour in pickle juice

Lastly, thin out with 2 to 4 tablespoons of the dill pickle juice or until it reaches a desired consistency.

stir to incorporate

Mix to combine.

Homemade Thousand Island Dressing

Store in a container with a tight-fitting lid and refrigerate for up to 7 days.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup full fat greek yogurt, (I like oikos plain with 25g protein)
  • 1/2 cup ketchup, homemade, regular or sugar free
  • 1/3 cup finely diced white or yellow onion
  • 1/3 cup finely diced dill pickles
  • 1 teaspoon white granulated sugar
  • 2 to 4 tablespoons dill pickle juice (brine)

Instructions 

  • In a small to medium bowl, measure and add mayonnaise, greek yogurt, ketchup, onion, pickles and sugar. Mix to combine.
  • Add desired amount of pickle juice to thin the dressing to a desired consistency.
