Whether it be Mother’s Day, your wedding day, a brunch with friends or plain ol’ Wednesday, there’s never a wrong time to sip a classic mimosa! Bubbly Prosecco, a splash of Grand Marnier then topped off with fresh orange juice and finished off with a twist of orange peel.
TWO alcoholic adult beverages back to back. Yeah, sorrynotsorry because MIMOSAS! The name alone is fun and rolls of the tongue as smoothly as the drink goes down. Effervescent and lovely, this Mother’s Day I hope to be sipping a good ol’ classic mimosa while my family makes me French toast, bacon and then supply me with endless cups of coffee throughout the day. However, I’ll most likely be working on future blog posts since last weekend and majority of this week as well, I wasn’t home to do much of anything but cook and snap photos and wash the dishes before I was out the door for one of my girls games.
Oh the life of a blogger; mimosas on a Wednesday, softball double headers at night– life sounds so rough, right? I can tell you feel bad for me.
The first time I had a mimosa was at a friends brunch. We all brought something to pass; I brought fruit salad and the makings for mimosas. Back then, I got it so wrong. I just free poured half a glass of champagne and topped that off with a splash of orange juice. Needless to say, they were strong.
Since then, I’ve done research and sipped a few more mimosas and today I’m sharing with you my take on a classic mimosa recipe.
To Make This Classic Mimosa Recipe You Will Need:
- fresh orange juice without pulp
- Grand Marnier
- few oranges.
- 8 fluid ounce champagne glasses
Add a splash of Grand Marnier (or any other orange liqueur) into the glasses.
Then pour two (fluid) ounces of prosecco into each glass.
Then pour in the fresh orange juice to top it off. I did not measure this, I just filled it up leaving a little room at the top of the glass.
I peeled a little zest off of an orange and garnished each glass a flourish.
