Start by sorting through 1-1/2 cups dried northern beans before rinsing them under cold water.
Next add them to a medium-sized pot and cover with hot water, about 6 cups.
Cover and bring to a boil, cooking for two minutes.
Drain the beans; you willll notice the skins starting to pull back.
Place the beans back in the pot, cover with fresh water and bring back to a boil. Once the water is boiling, reduce the heat to low and simmer for 1-1/2 to 2 hours or until the beans are tender.
Voila! Perfect beans! Drain and set them off to the side. You could even make the beans a few days in advance and just store in an airtight container in the fridge.
