Ingredients

FOR THE DOUGHNUTS:

  • 2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon fine salt
  • 1/4 teaspoons nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon allspice
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup apple cider
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

FOR THE GLAZE:

  • cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon allspice
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons apple cider more or less, for thinning glaze

FOR THE CINNAMON SUGAR:

    Instructions

    MAKE THE DOUGHNUTS:

    • Lightly grease doughnut pans and preheat your oven to 325°.
    • In a mixing bowl, measure and add flour, sugar, baking powder and baking soda, salt, nutmeg, allspice and cinnamon. Whisk to combine.
    • In a separate bowl, beat eggs with apple cider, apple sauce and vanilla. Pour into dry ingredients.
    • Whisk until just combined.
    • Divide dough among pans and bake 10 minutes or until they spring back when gently pressed.
    • Remove and let cool slightly before dipping in the glaze and then cinnamon sugar.

    MAKE THE GLAZE:

    • Combine powdered sugar with allspice and whisk in 1 to 2 tablespoons apple cider. Until smooth.

    MAKE THE CINNAMON SUGAR:

    • In a small bowl, mix sugar with cinnamon
