Fresh Berry Compote

This Fresh Berry Compote is incredible served with pound cake topped with real whipped cream is a simple and light dessert!  Fresh fruit, sugar and lemon juice simmer until becoming a thick delicious sauce. Yields 1½ cups compote.

Ingredients

FOR THE BERRY COMPOTE:

  • 1 pint blackberries rinsed
  • 1 pint blueberries rinsed
  • 1/2 pound =strawberries stems removed and halved
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar

Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients into a medium sized saucepan and heat over medium heat, until the juices are released they start to boil.
  • Cook for 5-8 minutes and remove from the heat and set aside.
