Air Fryer French Toast Bagels

Print Recipe
Air Fryer French Toast Bagels are simple and flavorful. The dough is made with plain nonfat greek yogurt and flavored with cinnamon and nutmeg. Before being air fried, the bagels are brushed with a maple and coconut palm sugar glaze, which gives the tops a sweet and crackly texture! A delicious, high protein breakfast option. This recipe yields 4 bagels.

Ingredients

FOR THE BAGELS:

  • 1 cup unbleached all-purpose flour
  • teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon fine salt pink himalayan or sea salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup plain nonfat greek yogurt

FOR THE FRENCH TOAST TOPPING:

  • 2 tablespoons real maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons coconut palm sugar divided
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, measure and add the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, salt and nutmeg. Whisk to combine.
  • Add in the yogurt and use a spatula to combine and shape into a ball.
  • Transfer the dough onto a generously floured surface and divide into 4 equal pieces.
  • Roll each piece in flour and then shape and roll between your hands to for a 9 to 10-inch rope. Connect the ends and pinch to secure.
  • In a small bowl, combine the maple syrup with 1 generous tablespoons coconut palm sugar and 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon.
  • Brush the maple mixture over the top and sides of each bagel. Divide and sprinkle the remaining tablespoon of coconut palm sugar over each bagel
  • Preheat your air fryer to 300°
  • Place the bagels in or on your air fryer insert. I’m using parchment, but only use parchment paper designed for air fryers and NEVER preheat your air fryer with parchment paper inside.
Work in batches (if need be) and air fry for 12 minutes. Remove and repeat if necessary.
  • Slice in half and toast! See notes on how to toast in the air fryer.

Notes

How To Toast Your Bagels In the Air Fryer:
Increase the heat of your air fryer to 360°.
Swipe the cut side with butter (or if planning to use cream cheese then lightly spray with olive oil, ghee spray or coconut spray instead or simply omit this step) and pop the two halves into your preheated air fryer. Air fry for 2 to 4 minutes or until desired toasty-ness.
