top ten things I’m thankful for…

I’m a pretty lucky gal.

I married my high school sweetheart, had his babies {sorry, tmi?} and I am surrounded by the most wonderful friends. On top of my wonderful and supportive guy, those two beauties, I also get to do what I love: cook, take photos and blog all about it.

But there are a lot of other things that I’m thankful for, too. Some very meaningful and some a leeetle frivolous… but important to me nonetheless. I thought I’d share those with you… if you don’t mind. 🙂

{these are in no particular order}

1. My health. Besides the flu earlier this fall, I’m in good health. And working in an emergency room I see A LOT of people who aren’t as fortunate, and for that I am thankful.

2. Instagram. It takes the dreariest photo and adds depth, texture and magically turns it into the most AMAZING photograph, like ever. Or maybe it’s just me. I even considered shooting a post through Instagram… but I didn’t want to tie up anyone’s feed.

3. My eyesight. This probably falls under number one, but I’m listing it anyways. If it wasn’t for my eyesight I wouldn’t be able to read her books, or this book{s} and definitely wouldn’t have had the pleasure to read my most favorite series. {So I eat my carrots on the regular}

4. My parents. I am blessed with FOUR! I have my parents that brought me into the world and raised me, and I also have my in-laws that helped in a way to raise me too and then welcomed me into their family by marrying their son eleven plus years ago. So, so blessed.

5. Sisters. I’m the youngest of four girls, and even though that means I was/ am-still-to-this-day picked on quite a bit, we also have girl talks, wine nights, inside jokes and all share a passion of food and cooking. They’re also the most beautiful bunch of ladies inside and out and I love them more than hush puppy crack balls because they are “The Greatest Love of All” (ps. I’ve always wanted Whitney’s earrings in this video!}. {sorry inside joke}

6. Chocolate covered pretzels. I wouldn’t have gotten through my awkward teens or 90210 episodes without them.

7. Brown butter. Nuff said.

8. Laughter. Because life without laughter would be soooo boring.

9. Facebook & Pinterest. Because E-cards sometimes say how one really feels, they soothe the soul… and make ya crack the hell up [see no. 8)!

10. And of course you guys! If it wasn’t for you I’d have quit blogging three years ago when I started. To everyone that visits my blog, emails me, or makes my recipes and leaves me comments about it, you all rock and I love ya!

I’ll be enjoying the next few days with my family and friends, but don’t you worry… I’ll have a brand spankin’ new recipe for you come Monday! And for all you Black Friday shoppers… BE SAFE!

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

    This is such a sweet post! Love the throw back pictures! Happy to hear you and your husband are still going strong. I’m marrying my “high school sweet heart” (we went to different high schools) in July after our 11 year anniversary!

    Looks and sounds like you have lots to be thankful for. 🙂 Happy Thanksgiving!

    What a beautiful family…..I think your recipes are great! Espically since you use whole foods that are good for you. Where do you find the time and energy.?? Espically since you are an er nurse….I too work in a hospital as a unit clerk/cna we do 12 hour shifts i work on a med/surg floor so I know how busy you are..I am really impressed thank you for doing this sight my family and I love the recipe I have made from it…

      Actually I’m not a nurse, but I do work with a bunch of wonderful ones! I think when you love something so much you find the time… and whatever spare time I have {while my kids are at school is the best} I cook 🙂 Thank you so much for your comment and Happy Thanksgiving Patti!

    I’ve been reading your blog for a while now, and I love your recipes and your story. And I share the love of the Outlander series as well, Diana Gabaldon is one of my top 3 favorite authors (they rotate depending on my mood).

    Have a very happy Thanksgiving!
